Learn about the Impacts of Climate Change and Educate Others

Effects of Hurricane Irene in Vermont

Climate change is throwing a number of curveballs at NH's wildlife and habitats, from rising temperatures to more extreme precipitation. Community boards and conservation organizations can support resilient wildlife and healthy habitats by learning about the impacts and then educating others about what we can do. Whether you're working to engage your community's residents or members of your conservation organization's board, you can help raise awareness about the threats of climate change to wildlife and habitat and the importance of proactive protection.

While climate change can seem like an overwhelming issue, there are many actions we all can take to protect both wildlife and people. The first step is to learn more about the expected impacts, so we can figure out how to move forward.

Next, engage others in conversations about climate impacts in your community. Get creative! Use a variety of approaches to reach more audiences, from newsletters and websites to social media and field trips. Most importantly, get people outside, experiencing the natural resources in their backyards. Explore citizen science and stewardship projects to get people actively involved.
